Associated Press - July 19, 2009 11:55 AM ET

O'NEILL, Neb. (AP) - The Federal Aviation Administration says one person has died after a small plane crashed in northeastern Nebraska.

The FAA says the two-engine Beechcraft plane crashed Saturday around 2 p.m. west of Verdel, which is near the South Dakota border.

The report says two people were in the plane, although authorities weren't immediately releasing their identities. The plane belonged to Richard Nielsen of Lynch.

FAA inspectors will be on the site Sunday as they continue to investigate.
