FALLS CITY, Neb. (AP) - A former deputy has won back pay to his February firing, but a county grievance board won't give him back his job.
James Scott had been fired Feb. 17, accused of sexually propositioning a co-worker and then lying about the incident to the chief Richardson County deputy.
Scott filed a grievance two days later, saying the firing wasn't justified.
In the grievance board's ruling last week, it upheld the firing but granted the back pay from July 16 to his firing Feb. 17.
The ruling said the board was concerned about the reliance on a lie-detector test used during Scott's firing. It also was concerned about whether Scott's rights to due process had been properly observed.
