LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - A settlement with Countrywide Financial Corp. will provide some cash to 156 Nebraskans who were affected by the mortgage lender's practices.
Countrywide agreed to pay $150 million to 40 states to address concerns about its lending practices.
Nebraska Attorney General Jon Bruning says there are 156 Nebraskans eligible to share in the state's $141,605 portion of the overall settlement. Each eligible borrower should receive a payment of at least $907.
Bruning's office is sending letters to all the eligible consumers. More information is available online at http://www.countrywidesettlementinfo.com.
The settlement is designed to address concerns about alleged deceptive acts and practices Countrywide used in its mortgage lending.
