COLUMBUS, Neb. (AP) - A 23-year-old Columbus man who sexually assaulted a runaway teenager has been given 5 to 8 years in prison.

After a bench trial in June, Platte County District Judge Robert Steinke found Edward Jacinto guilty of first-degree sexual assault.

Authorities say Jacinto was helping a 14-year-old run away from Boys and Girls Home on Dec. 29. He told her he would drive her from the Columbus group home to Grand Island.

Instead, Jacinto took the girl to his home and sexually assaulted her.

Jacinto was given credit for 190 days already served and will be required to register as a sex offender.
