Another teen fatality has hit the Panhandle, this time in Broadwater.
Fourteen year old Dean Colleado was killed Sunday evening after he lost control of his pickup and rolled two and a half times.
Colleado was driving on Morrill County Road 121 at approximately 6:15 p.m. when the accident occurred.
This is the fourth Panhandle teenager to die in a one-month span, including teens from Gordon, Alliance, Hemingford, and now Broadwater.
Nebraska State Patrol says that seatbelts have not been in use, but by doing so, these tragedies could be avoided.
"All of the fatalities that have occurred in the last month or so in the Panhandle area, all involve several factors, similar factors. Number one, they involve youthful drivers, on county roads, and there was no seatbelt usage. So the big big issue we're trying to stress out there is we've got to buckle up."
So far this year there have been 113 deaths on Nebraska roadways, and in the Panhandle there have been 16 deaths, passing last years total death count of 14.
