FREMONT, Neb. (AP) - A hearing has been set for Aug. 25 in Dodge County Court for a Lincoln man accused of making a homemade firework that exploded and injured an 80-year-old woman.

Thirty-8-year-old David Parr is charged with second-degree assault, using explosives to commit a felony, possession of a destructive device and discharge of an illegal firework.

Parr is accused in the July 5 incident of igniting a pipe filled with gunpowder with a metal ball on top of it. Authorities say when it exploded, the pipe broke apart and a piece of it struck Ioma Sukstorf in the face and broke her jaw.

If convicted, Parr faces up to 30 years in prison and fines up to $30,500.

He remains free after posting bond.
