Boil notice issued for northeast Neb. town

PIERCE, Neb. (AP) - As a precaution, the residents of Pierce in northeast Nebraska are being urged to drink bottled water or boil their tap water before any consumption.
City officials say a loss of water pressure overnight Friday into Saturday in the city system raised concerns about possible contamination.
City administrator Chad Anderson said Monday that there was no sign of any contamination, but the boil notice was issued as a precaution.
He's hoping water test results will be available Tuesday.
Under a boil notice, water for drinking, cooking, tooth brushing or other human consumption should be boiled for one minute before use.
Pierce is a town of about 1,640, 11 miles northwest of Norfolk.
