MERNA, Neb. (AP) - A 24-year-old man died after his car ran under a semitrailer and burned a mile east of his hometown of Merna in central Nebraska.

The Nebraska State Patrol says Jonathan Jacobsen was heading west on Nebraska Highway 2 a little after midnight Friday morning, following the semi.

The patrol says Jacobsen's car ran under the semi and got stuck. Both vehicles erupted in flames.

The truck driver, 40-year-old Caroline Klenczon of Avondale, Ariz., and her passenger were treated for smoke inhalation.

A patrol dispatcher in North Platte says no citations have been issued and that the accident is still being investigated.
