LISCO, Neb. (AP) - A 25-year-old woman faces a hearing next month in Garden County District Court on charges that she stabbed a pregnant teenage girl, killing the girl's unborn child.

Maria Del Pilar Chavez-Lugo was charged with manslaughter, first-degree assault and felony use of a deadly weapon.

Garden County Attorney Phil Pierce says the attack occurred at a home near Lisco on Aug. 8.

The girl's name has not been released. Pierce says she was stabbed in the abdomen, face, leg and arm. She is still in a hospital. A report on her condition is not available.

Pierce says the sheriff's detectives are still investigating the motive. He says Chavez-Lugo and the girl lived in the same home and that the girl's boyfriend is Chavez-Lugo's brother.
