Alliance Recycling contest is a success

Posted: Updated:

The 2009 Students for Recycling contest in Alliance has been called a success.

Over 14,000 pounds of #1 plastics were collected from the students involved in the contest.

Saint Agnes Academy in Alliance as well as Hemingford Schools reached their goal of 500 bags of plastics.

The two schools were awarded for their efforts in recycling with McDonald's coupons.

But that is not all, all students that participated in the program received cooler backpacks.

Keep Alliance Beautiful plans to continue the Students for Recycling contest again in 2010 but the contest will focus on collecting another type of recyclable material.
