The Alliance School Board has postponed the sale of old, vancant school buildings and is struggling to decide what the next step should be.
Months ago, the school board looked at how to get rid of and sell the District 39, District 42, District 44 and District 25 buildings in their school district.
The board decided to list one building for sale and auction the remaining three.
But since then, some zoning issues have stopped the board from going forth with the sale.
Since the buildings or Rural Attendance Centers were previously schools, in order to sell them, they must be rezoned.
The problem is, Box Butte County currently has no rezoning board to do so leaving the school board scrambling to find their next move.
"I think the biggest issues up there right now are the zoning requirements changing the building to another use facility and so they have to get the zoning issues resolved before the sale of those buildings."
Hoesing says right now it is up to the board to decided whether they should sell the buildings and let the buyer get it rezones or to continue the postponement of the sale until a zoning board is created and rezones the properties.
Without having the building rezoned, it will make it difficult for the buyers to know what the building could be used for.
