Uranium plant to relocate HQ

Posted: Updated:

Uranium mining company Cameco Corporation has announced that it will move its U.S. headquarters from Lakewood, Colo., to Cheyenne next year.

Spokesman Ken Vaughn said Tuesday that the move is scheduled for Feb. 1 and will bring about 12 new jobs to Wyoming.

The Canadian-based company is one of the world's largest uranium producers.

Cameco owns and operates the Smith Ranch-Highland in-situ uranium mine near Glenrock, the only operating uranium mine in Wyoming. It also owns and operates the Crow Butte in-situ uranium mine near Crawford, Neb.

Vaughn says the company has several more Wyoming projects under development.

The company currently employs 165 people in Wyoming and 69 in Nebraska.
