SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. (AP) - A western Nebraska zoo has added two Eurasian lynx siblings to its collection.
9-year-olds Sabrina and Tomas arrived at the Riverside Zoo in Scottsbluff from the Black Park Zoo in Des Moines, Iowa. Riverside sent a red panda to Des Moines in exchange for the lynx.
Riverside supervisor Kelly Jensen said the lynx should live at least another six years, and zoo visitors should find the exhibit of the brother-sister tandem to be quite active.
Eurasian lynx are the largest of the lynx species, weighing as much as 90 pounds. They are native to the forested, mountainous regions of northern and central Europe and Asia.
Jensen said Sabrina and Tomas should enjoy western Nebraska's winter weather.
