Neb. man dies in collision on slickened highway

Associated Press - October 23, 2009 11:15 AM ET

BRUNSWICK, Neb. (AP) - Authorities say a slick road led to the traffic death of an 85-year-old man from Orchard in northeast Nebraska.

The Nebraska State Patrol says Jack Classen was driving east on U.S. Highway 20 Thursday morning when he lost control of his car about a mile east of Brunswick.

His car crossed into westbound traffic and collided with a sport utility vehicle driven by 40-year-old Clinton Bowland of Norfolk.

The patrol says Classen died at the scene. Bowland was taken a nearby hospital for treatment, then released.

Both men were wearing seat belts.

In another weather-related crash Thursday, a 15-year-old boy from Broken Bow was killed in a collision on Nebraska Highway 2 in central Nebraska.
