Governor Dave Heineman will be the keynote speaker for a Veterans awareness conference next month.
Chadron State College's Social Work Program has been working on a semester long project that will focus on veterans awareness.
The all day event will have breakout sessions that will cover topics including post traumatic stress disorder, veterans and education benefits, substance abuse and family support.
One senior in the class explains why this community project should have such a profound impact for the vets.
"The importance of taking care of our veterans, there's a number of issues and problems that they came in contact when they get home or even while they're serving, and basically there's a big support system for them, i don't know if they all understand what's available for them," said Chedrick Monahan.
Governor Heineman and Peter Henry, the Director of the Black Hills Health Care system will be the Keynote Speakers during the event.
The conference will be on tuesday november tenth, and registration starts at eight.
