The major winter storm that paralyzed Western Nebraska and parts of Wyoming and Colorado has finally moved on to the east leaving a foot of snow and dozens of closed roads and schools in its wake.
Main roads in the Panhandle are now mostly open although wind has kept parts of Interstate 80 in the southern Panhandle closed most of the day.
Schools and activites were cancelled all over the area.
And the heavy snow has also created problems for farmers trying to get their beets out of the ground.
"It has created a big challenge with all the wet, muddy conditions but i think our growers have done a really great job being able to get 80 percent of the crop harvested. We've never had a string of probably more than five days of harvest," said Jerry Darnell of Western Sugar.
With the harvest just about done, farmers will be seeing some weamer weather throughout the weekend and into next week.
Darnell says that growers hope to get back out in their fields by the middle of next week.
