FALLS CITY, Neb. (AP) - A former Richardson County chief deputy sheriff will be paid thousands of dollars in a deal with county officials over his dismissal earlier this year.
Former chief deputy Randy Raney filed a grievance with the county in August, saying he was fired by Sheriff Vernon Buckminster. Buckminster has maintained that Raney quit.
Under an agreement reached by Raney and the county board, Raney is resigning his employment and withdrawing his complaint. In exchange, he'll be paid his salary and benefits through Aug. 15, as well as nearly $6,000.
