The 27th annual Old West Choir Fest was held this weekend at Scottsbluff High School.
Nineteen choral groups from schools from all over western Nebraska and as far as Sheridan, Wyoming arrived to compete for best in the fest.
This years Old West Marching Band Competition was canceled due to inclement weather, so organizer Mandi Adams is pleased that local students were able to compete today in the all day musical festival.
“Oh its great. You know, as far as highlighting the arts I think its very good for the community. These are community traditions and its very unfortunate that we weren't able to go with the band, but the weather is gorgeous today. We have 19 choirs with a full day of fun and music, so its good.”
The choirs sang songs varying from traditional to chart toppers from last four decades.
Some of the categories the choirs are scored on are tone, pitch, musical variety, and choreography.
Last year Scottsbluff High School took home the “Best in the Fest” first place prize, and did a three-peat Saturday evening by edging out Sheridan and Gering.
