Chadron Police, College work together

Posted: Updated:

A collaboration between Chadron's Police Department and the college has freed up many of the officers for use elsewhere.

At the start of the semester, Chadron Police Officer Brad Hisel was appointed as the College Resource Officer for Chadron State College.

Hisel serves as a liaison between the two entities, and actually has his own office on campus.

Officer Derek Bauer says that Hisel is a great asset up at the college because there's a variety of things keeping street officers busy.

Any time the police department needs to get involved with an incident at the college, there's already a mediator there.

“He lets us know that the college is doing, he lets the college know what we're doing, and it makes it a lot easier to work together when everybody can just go to Officer Hisel from both sides and it makes everybody work together better, everybody gets info quicker. It works out really well.”

Since taking the position, officer hisel has assisted in a number of cases, including the break–in at the Old Admin Building at the Sandoz Center.
