Local vets gather to celebrate Veterans Day

About one hundred veterans as well as family and friends came out to honor those who served our country.
The Western Nebraska State Veterans home held their annual Veterans Day Program this afternoon.
For the veterans home, it is a day to honor all veterans but it is also an important reminder of how important it is to care for them in their older age.
“It lets' them know that what they went through, not only them but their spouses serving is still important to us and it helps us to remember what the past did to them and hopefully stop it from happening to the future,” said AMVETS Post 9 commander Beth Linn.
Today's celebration at the veterans home included speeches from many local veterans as well as songs preformed by 2009 Miss Nebraska Outstanding Teen JaCee Pilkington.
