H1N1 vaccines are rolling into the Panhandle, and hundreds of people showed up in Gering this morning to get theirs.
Community Action Partnership of Western Nebraska Health Center hosted an H1N1 flu shot clinic this morning to high risk individuals.
Currently the shots are being offered to pregnant women, people who live or care for infants younger than six months of age, health care and emergency medical personnel, people aged six months through 24 years old, or anyone aged twenty five or older with certain chronic medical conditions.
Those who were eligible received free shots, and nurses were eager to help vaccine people who have been worried about the pandemic.
“Of course we've been very excited to do that. We've been working closely with the Scotts Bluff County Health Department, and we were excited to be able to offer a public clinic,” says immunization manager Diane Kreiling.
600 vaccines were available today, and during the first hour they went through one third of them.
Community Action Partnership is currently working with the Health Department to get another clinic set up, but no date has been set.
