Chadron's wastewater facility nears completion

Posted: Updated:

The waste water treatment facility in Chadron is ahead of schedule and nearing completion.

With the help of ten hour work days and milder weather, crews have been very successful in the progress of the new, four million dollar plant.

Leo Macy, the project superintendent, says that there has only been one nuisance at work in regard to the project.

"Just the rain. They told me that it doesn't really rain that often out here, and its rained just about every day or so, but nothing has really slowed us down."

The crews are currently finishing up piping in the plant, and there is a scheduled dry run in two weeks, where they will turn on blowers to see if air goes through the pipes.

If the dry run is a success, they will put water in the tanks and participate in a live test.

Macy says that if everything stays on track, the wastewater treatment facility could be up and running by the start of the new year.
