Congressman Adrian Smith recognized a Scottsbluff High School student for being accepted into a military academy.
Smith presented Scottsbluff High School senior, Chris Johnson with a Certificate of Nomination this morning at the high school.
The senior decided to apply to the schools last January and has since been hard at work filling out applications and getting nominations.
Part of the application process for the academies, includes getting letters of nominations from local congressmen and senators.
And although, he has yet to decide if he will attend the Naval Academy or the Air Force Academy, he says he is focusing on finishing his last year at Scottsbluff High.
"I'm kind of going to wait a little bit to decide and kind of finish out my senior year the way I have to. But I'm excited to serve my country and be an Officer in the military… the experience at the academy is like no other and it's the most rounded person you'll ever become," said Scottsbluff High senior, Chris Johnson.
Johnson says that he has already received his Letter of Appointment from the Naval Academy and is still waiting on one from the Air Force Academy.
