An autopsy preformed on a man who drove into a retention pond Monday morning gives investigators some idea of what happened.
Early Monday morning, a jogger found the body of 49–year–old Shawn O'Donahue of Gering, behind Menards in Scottsbluff.
His car was discovered in the pond in about four feet of water..
The autopsy performed yesterday showed that he died of exposure after he got himself out of the water and onto land.
Deputy County Attorney John Childress says that there have been reports that O'Donahue had been drinking sometime before the accident.
He says now, investigators are waiting toxicology results, which should be done in about a month.
The investigation shows that the accident could have taken place anytime between 10 PM to 6 AM.
