Lawsuit against Scottsbluff Police Department dismissed

Posted: Updated:

A federal lawsuit by a former Scottsbluff Police Officer, alleging harassment and discrimination against her by the department and city, has been dismissed.

Stella Ojeda said in her lawsuit last year that her superiors harassed and belittled her on the job.

She was seeking $5 million in damages.

She says she was fired in March 2007 after complaining to Police Chief Alex Moreno and other superiors about what she said was a work environment hostile to her as a Hispanic woman.

Court documents say Ojeda and the defendants agreed that the case could not be refiled.
