Drivers in KOTA Territory get an early Christmas gift, as gas prices in the panhandle reach a low for the year.
The Sinclair gas station in Morrill is packed with people filling their tanks now that gas is selling for $2.98 a gallon.
For most of the year fuel in Torrington, Wyoming was the cheapest in the area. But after the Maverik in Scottsbluff opened for service, competition drove gas prices down in the area.
"Torrington is normally lower than Nebraska," says Lowell James, of Torrington. "But now they're still 13 cents a gallon higher than what you are down here. And I go through this town every day, so why not get the lower price?"
"Well I think it's great that it's come down some," adds Leroy Bingham, also of Torrington. "Maybe it will stay down for a while- but I doubt it."
Drivers say the cost of gas has been a burden on many people across the area this year, a gallon of gas neared the four dollar mark in May.
