The United Way of Western Nebraska is still short of reaching its goal but charity leaders are hopeful donations will come through.
The United Way's 2011 campaign ends on January 31st and the organization is still around $50,000 short of its goal.
Executive Director Stephanie Black says she is optimistic her organization will reach its $350,000 target.
The United Way supported 18 organizations last year and is expecting the need for assistance to grow even greater this year. Black says, "You know I just think it's important that our community realizes that without all of their help that our agencies would not survive and thrive as we hope that they would. It has been a community effort".
United Way hosts many fundraisers every year including a golf tournament, duck dash and now a masquerade ball which is scheduled for February 18th.
