A local child advocacy group looks for more volunteers as the number of child abuse cases continues to grow in the area.
The group "Court Appointed Special Advocates" (CASA) helps children who are in foster care as a result of child abuse and neglect.
The group currently has 20 active volunteers advocating for more than 50 juvenile cases.
Volunteers stay in contact with parents, foster, parents, and judges during the process to ensure everything is going alright.
"Our volunteers are kind of the eyes and ears for the judge outside of the courtroom," explains Kathy Welfl, the director of Scotts Bluff County CASA. "And they are the voice of the child in the courtroom"
CASA is currently recruiting more volunteers for their spring training course. To get involved and make a difference you can call 308-672-2922 for more information.
