After nearly two months of searching and over 40 candidates the Chadron State football team has a new head coach.
Chadron State graduate and Black Hills State head coach Jay Long has been named to the position.
Long will be the 25th head coach at CSC and replaces one time national coach of the year Bill O'Boyle who was not re-signed due to a NCAA investigation involving program funds.
He becomes only the third coach who also played sports for the Eagles, the first since 1937.
Long graduated from CSC back in 2001 and was a two time all conference selection in football during his four years. He also qualified for the national tournament in wrestling.
The past three seasons Long has been head coach at Black Hills State guiding them to a 15-15 record. He will be introduced to the school on Thursday.
