Demolition of a Nebraska Public Power District generating station is set to begin in March.
The NPPD generation station in Scottsbluff has been closed for 22 years. The board of directors has decided to tear it down.
The demolition is expected to cost about $968,000.
But NPPD anticipates the cost will be offset by the high metal salvage value.
Demolishing the building will eliminate the need to maintain a secure facility in the future.
NPPD expects the work to be completed by November this year.
