Group accused of setting up pyramid scheme at local college

Police are investigating a group accused of trying to set up a pyramid scheme at Chadron State College.

Police chief Tim Lordino says the group that calls themselves the "world ventures rat pack" tried to get students to pay a $200 fee for a membership program that offers discount vacation packages.

The students who paid could then recruit more people and receive some of their enrollment fee back.

Lordino says after the group was told they needed a solicitation license for Chadron, they canceled their scheduled meetings.
