A local hospital looks to keep patients safe with an extensive remodel.
Regional West Hospital will close 8-thousand square feet of the hospital's main floor for remodeling and asbestos removal.
The project is expected to begin next Monday and the hallway will be closed for five to seven weeks.
During remodeling patients and visitors will be redirected within the hospital.
Safety coordinator Dylan Cardiff says the hallway closure is a necessary project.
"The reason we do this is because we need to section off area from our patients, visitors and employees so that no one could possibly be exposed to the asbestos fibers," Cardiff said.
Regional West has hired a licensed asbestos removal company for the project.
