Getting veterans to regional VA hospitals is a priority as the fight to keep the Hot Springs clinic continues.
The Scotts Bluff County Veteran's Service Officer says there is a shortage of volunteers to drive DAV vans.
The vans leave Scottsbluff three times a week to take veterans to both the Cheyenne and Hot Springs clinics.
John Brehm says there isn't enough manpower to rotate drivers in and out.
"Our older drivers, a lot of the time we like to have extras to fill in," says Brehm. "Because when our regular drivers have family coming into town or don't feel well or something, we like to have somebody take their place so we're always soliciting volunteer drivers for the vans, both to hot springs and Cheyenne."
