Red dresses and heart health education went hand in hand today at Gering Civic Center.
The 5th annual Latina Red Dress event pulled women together to educate them about cardiovascular disease.
There was a free health fair that offered lipid panels, bone density tests, body composition evaluation and blood pressure checks.
Local businesses and health related organizations sponsored booths and attendees were also eligible to win door prizes.
Martin Vargas, the Minority Health Director at CAPWAN says, "Thousands of women die every year of heart attack and stroke and so this is our effort during cardiovascular health month to you know help them prevent that."
Local ladies also showed off their red dresses on the catwalk during a lunchtime fashion show.
