NBA star gives WNCC basketball players "Lin"spiration

Posted: Updated:

The newest National Basketball Association star is giving hope to local college ballers for their chance to shine on a bigger stage.

Jeremy Lin of the New York Knicks has become an overnight sensation in the NBA.

The Asian - American hoopster was traded around by several teams after being undrafted out of college.

But in the last few weeks, Lin got his chance to start his first game, and has been stealing the show ever since.

Basketball players at Western Nebraska Community College say this "zero - to - hero" story is "Lin - credible."

"It's great for athletes all over the world to see and look at a player who's been overlooked his entire career, and now he's making a name for himself,"says Sophomore Mike Peltz.

"It kind of gives hope for the rest of us," adds Freshman Allen Beck. "Just makes it so we have a chance. I mean he's made it possible for all of us to look at ourselves and think, hey we can possibly be that someday."

Lin helped the Knicks win seven of their last eight games since he got the nod to be a starter, and was just announced as a late addition to the NBA's All-Star Weekend.
