Nebraska lawmakers advance a bill that may save the state time and money by allowing video - conferencing.
A bill that will allow the Community College Board of Governors to hold video teleconferencing meetings was advanced in the legislature on Tuesday.
In order for all board members to meet at the same time, a majority have to travel hundreds of miles.
Senator John Harms says although it's beneficial to have board members *physically* present to build better relationships, video - conferencing is more time efficient and cost effective.
"I can understand as we look at Nebraska and the size of it that it's time to address this," explained the Scottsbluff Senator. "And there's so many things we can do efficiently today that's so much better. And in the next decade it'll be even much better."
An amendment that allows public power districts and public power and irrigation districts to hold its public meetings by videoconferencing was also added.
