A youth organization is raising funds to finance a child welfare shelter expansion.
The Community Action Partnership of Western Nebraska (CAPWN) Is trying to raise an additional $53,000 dollars to finance an expansion project.
The youth center has already raised a $106,000 dollars for the 1,700 square foot expansion.
The finished project will include 8 bedrooms, remodeled dorm rooms, storage, and 2 handicapped bathrooms.
CAPWAN Director, Jan Fitts says, "The population of youth that we serve her at the youth shelter has really expanded over the last 3 years nearly doubled"
Staff at CAPWAN plan to break ground in April and hope construction will be finished by the end of the summer.
