Scottsbluff county commissioners say they hope the appointment of a new tourism director will boost the industry throughout the region.
County commissioners recently announced Brenda Leisy as the new tourism director.
Leisy previously served on the merchandising team for Cabelas in Sidney before accepting the position.
She was chosen from a pool of 12 candidates during a hiring process that began last July.
Scottsbluff county commissioner Mark Masterton says he has high hopes for Leisy and the county.
"She comes to us with quite a few qualifications and we expect her to be a self starter and we expect big things out of tourism here in the years to come," Masterton said.
Leisy will replace interim tourism director Julie Marshall and is expected to begin her new duties March 5th.
