State Senators are being urged to shift their focus toward a budget as the national debt continues to grow.
Senator Mike Johanns addressed the Senate yesterday and asked them to adopt a budget resolution.
Johanns argued that with the current debt crisis it is now time for the Senate to address the growing issue.
Johanns stated that a lack of leadership within the Senate has stopped any progress on adopting a national budget. "The Senate has lacked the will and the leadership to fulfill what I consider it's the most basic legislative function, writing and adopting a budget resolution."
The current U.S. national debt is approaching almost $16 trillion dollars.
