Governor Dave Heineman is urging Nebraskans to buy locally grown produce from farmer's markets.
There are more than 75 farmer's markets across the state.
Governor Heineman is also promoting a state-wide program that gives coupons to low-income senior citizens so they can buy food at local farmers' markets.
The Nebraska Department of Agriculture says 5,400 seniors participated last year and redeemed close to a quarter-million dollars worth of coupons.
There are more than 600 registered produce growers in Nebraska.
