Kids learn leadership in Terrytown

Posted: Updated:

Kids in KOTA Territory learn sportsmanship and leadership skills at a local summer camp.

The Carpenter Intergenerational Center and the Scotts Bluff County Housing Authority teamed up to create the "Kidz 20-12 adventure camp".

Kids ages 5 through 12 participate in a variety of educational and recreational activities.

Today kids wrapped up a 'Survivor' themed week with group competitions. The camp's co -director Brad Peters says kids are gaining valuable life experience.

"We divided the kids into teams to cheer each other on. And there's many obstacles here set up that are built so that they have to work together to do that. And that does require some leadership...someone to setup up and say "this is where we need to go now" and the kids have done a great job with it all week."

Campers will travel to Agate Fossil Beds and Fort Robinson State Park later this summer.
