Former Kimball Councilman sentenced to prison

Posted: Updated:

A former Kimball city councilman is sentenced to 14 to 20 years in prison the attempted sexual assault of a mentally challenged teenage boy.

District Judge Randy Lippstreu handed down the sentence to 49-year old Scott Haun this morning in Scotts Bluff County District Court.

Haun apologized to the family for the incident that took place last September.

Haun said he hoped his previous clean criminal record and remorse for his actions would allow for probation rather than a jail sentence.

Judge Lippstreu says with good behavior, Haun will be eligible for parole in seven to ten years.

Haun served as a Kimball city councilman for 12 years, but resigned the morning of his plea hearing.
