Hail damage from Tues. night storm

Posted: Updated:

Homeowners are cleaning up the damage today after a late night hail storm moved through the Panhandle.

Reports of hail ranging from pea-to golf ball size hail preceded heavy rainfall that caused flash flooding in the streets. Today, streets and lawns are littered with debris.

Many window panes and vinyl siding on homes that face west were busted from the hail.

Some people, like Naoma Hurst of Scottsbluff, say it was scary waking up to the pounding hail. "I kept hearing these bb shots, only bigger and louder hitting the side of the house. And then I heard the glass...so I came running out of the bedroom. Broken windows in all 3 bedrooms, the dining room, and scared me. I couldn't even get the front door open."

Hundreds of cars were damaged at local dealerships in Scottsbluff and some crop damage has also been reported.
