Dog jog brings out pets and their owners

Posted: Updated:

Paws were pounding the pavement in the Panhandle to raise money for the local human society.

Dogs of all ages and sizes geared up today for the 9th annual Panhandle Humane Society Dog Jog.

Dogs and their owners walked or jogged laps around Pioneer Park and then got to play.

The Humane Society is a non-profit organization and fundraisers and adoption fees help them stay open and helping animals.

Dog Jog Participant Marlyce Burkey says, "So Lucy and I came out to walk to help the humane society. They do a useful service rescuing animals and trying to re-home them so I want to support that."

The Scottsbluff Kennel Club partnered with the Humane Society this year to offer fun dog games and tests after the walk.
