There will be a little less sparkle in the Panhandle sky this Fourth of July due to a last-minute cancellation.
The annual fireworks display at Western Nebraska Community College won't take place tomorrow because of a permit issue.
A last minute sponsorship change prevents the Scottsbluff Fireworks Fund from getting a new permit from the Fire Marshal's office within 10 business days.
Fireworks Event Coordinator, Tracy Ford, "I'm really sad about it. This would've been my 30th year of shooting the show. I enjoy it. Everybody that works with. Nobody gets paid. It's all volunteer work. There is hundreds of hours that go into this and it's a sad thing and it's something we'll miss this year."
Although no professional shows are scheduled for the f4th there will still be plenty of fireworks for everyone to enjoy.
