Scottsbluff city leaders give the public a sneak peak at one of the summers biggest road projects before they break ground on Monday.
The city hosted an open house last night, for people to look at the upcoming road project for 27th Street.
The entire stretch from avenue "I" to Highway 26 will receive new sidewalks and a mill over-lay.
It has been nearly 20 years since any major work has been done on 27th Street.
Public Works Director Mark Bohl says the end result will be a world of a difference."It's time. The surface has deteriorated to the point where it needs to be overlaid. That's why we're doing it now. We're not doing a total tear out other than curbs and sidewalks, which is work that can be done during the daytime. The actual street itself will have a 3 inch overlay."
The project will take most of the summer to complete.
