Nebraska's oldest continuous running celebration gets in full swing tomorrow, which will be a big boon to the local economy.
Upwards to 45-thousand people are expected to attend this year's Oregon Trail Days festivities.
Hotels in gering have been booked to capacity for months, while downtown merchants are expected to get a lot more foot traffic.
Union Bar owner Scott Swanson says with four times the population of gering expected to patronize businesses, there will be a great trickle down effect in the local economy.
"I think for the entire community... I think it's obviously why we keep doing the festival each year. It's good for the economy."
Swanson says he has hired an extra 45 to 50 people to work the concerts held at the Union for the next three nights.
