Local zoo directors say warm weather and new animals have boosted numbers.
Riverside Discovery Center director Anne James says zoo attendance numbers have increased dramatically this summer.
She says there has been a 255 percent increase over last year.
The Riverside Zoo recently introduced several new animals to its collection.
Warm weather also has children and families coming out to enjoy the splash pad.
James says big attendance numbers also keeps residents of the zoo very happy.
"the animals in particular enjoy all the company; they get a little lonely when the attendance drops off in the fall."
James says high attendance numbers help the zoo increase its operating budget.
