Scottsbluff won't be subject to water restrictions this year

Posted: Updated:

There will be no restrictions in Scottsbluff on when people can and can't use water.

Some communities have been hard hit on its water supply due to the ongoing drought- forcing them to limit when people can water their lawns.

But Scottsbluff City Manager Rick Kuckkahn says Scottsbluff is in good shape.

He says the city has been moving six million gallons of water a day, well within its capabilities.

Kuckkahn says the city has an excellent source for Scottsbluff's waters usage.

"We can fill our tanks in the evening hours to accommodate any kind of demand during the day. So the system itself is capable of handling within safety limits the amount of water that's being consumed by the public."

Increased water consumption has also improved the city's water quality because contaminants don't have time to form in the constantly moving water.
