Monkeys at Riverside Zoo get some special treats this morning.
Zoo keepers with the help of some animal senses campers put together piñatas for the monkeys.
The colorful balls were filled with popcorn and goldfish for the primates to enjoy.
The pinatas are part of enrichment programs at the zoo which help stimulate the animals and encourage natural behaviors.
Zoo Keeper, Mike Gillen says, "So here at the zoo since they can't migrate to new territories we provide the novel enrichment items so they can encounter new interesting foods throughout the year."
Riverside Zoo Education Coordinator, Kim Medima says the zoo keepers work to give all the zoo animals something new each day. "We try to make enrichment for our animals every single day. Always something new targeting towards their natural behavior."
Animal enrichment includes introducing new toys, smells and foods to the animals on a daily basis.
